Dating Horror Stories: Sami, Take Two
Here's another story from Sami that takes a more serious tone. Dating Horror Story indeed...
After having one suitor continually and very persistently ask me to meet him for a date, I once again declined. The harassment had been going on for some time. Him asking, me declining, him swearing, threatening this and that. That is, until he uttered a death threat at me for refusing to meet him. (It was a very specific threat, which he could only use if he had already been following me)
I called the police and turned out he was known to them for doing this and it would only escalate.
Thankfully he didn’t know where I lived but he did have my phone number which the police strongly suggested I changed to "unlisted" ASAP. They paid him a visit, issued him a no contact order and I never heard from him again. That was November, 2008.
Should he resurface (msn or dating sight) I’ve been instructed to call in my case file immediately to the police. (Msn, I’ve been advised to keep him added and keep all conversation history – I always do – more for evidence against him).
I can't imagine what that would be like, Sami! Good for you for doing the right thing...that takes guts! Check out this brave girl's blog, Being Samiantha.

I have a system in place for online dating.
As I'm learning about said suitor, I gather all the infor I can (they've provided) pictures, cell#, work places, msn, facebook etc... when I'm about to meet them I put all that information into a folder and email it off the day of the date to a few friends. Gawd forbid anything should happen, someone will have all the infor of the person I was last with.
Some say this is harsh, jilted and I should just "roll with it". Single and dating in the city, there is no way in hell I'm going to take any chances. How many people do you hear about some back in the day:
"they met online, she went to meet him, they then found her body in a dumpest, etc"
I"m not taking any chances.
Wow, that's really smart! I never went to that extreme, but I did always let at least someone know who I was going with to where, etc. I don't think that's jaded at all...just...smart.
