30 before 30: #16-See the Baby Elephant at the Columbus Zoo

After our very, very hellish Friday, The Boyfriend and I definitely needed some time to relax.  I'm not sure if visiting the number one zoo in the country (No More Number Two!) on Father's Day was the best idea, BUT, we did have a great time seeing all the different animals...and I'm not just talkin' 'bout all the mullet-sportin' Ohioans.

I've been a big fan of the zoo since I was a kid, and now, it really is better than ever.  Favorite exhibits included the Australian Night Walk, the baby Chimp, the Bonobos, a newly aquired Okapi, and of course, Beco!  At just three months old, Beco already weighs over five hundred fifty pounds...I WANT ONE.  For my very own.  No more ponies, only baby elephants.

Here's a a little video I took with my camera:

Not only was this zoo visit a great opportunity to see all the animals, but it was the first date of its kind for The Boyfriend and I.  We rarely are able to get away, just the two of us, and enjoy and experience something together that's not a movie or sitting around someone's kitchen.  Of course, any date is fun, but this was different and new...and of course, totally adorbs.  (Yes, I said "adorbs".  Back off.)

My bf and I also went to the zoo last week. I hadn't been since I was little (erm, I mean, younger) and it was definitely impressive. I mean, we also went to see the lights this year but the Good animals hate the cold so it wasn't the same. We got there too late for the baby elephant so we'll have to go another time. Plus I will have to go see the polar bear exhibit that is supposed to open this year. Wednesdays are half off to Franklin Co residents... and I like cheap, fun things... and playing hooky from work.

Hehe...since you were little. :)
