30 before 30:  #18- Take a Spontaneous Trip DO-OVER

Since my last attempt at a spontaneous trip was a colossal failure, when I had the opportunity to take another, I jumped at the chance.  Turns out my friend, Carly, had already booked a trip to New Orleans, but her travel partner cancelled at the last minute.  She asked me to go, and less than two days later, we were on a flight down to Bayou Country.

The trip began somewhat rockily with flight delays, but we arrived in one piece, and just an hour later than planned.  We dropped off our luggage at the Westin (great digs, by the way), and embarked and the first of two nights out on the town.  Naturally, we hit up Bourbon Street (where I checked off another 30 before 30 item!), then headed to Harrah's for a little fun with slot machines.

We awoke early the next morning to experience a little Cajun breakfast, did a little sight seeing and shopping, then went on a paddle boat tour.  The weather was in record lows for the area, which means it was 92 and gorgeous.  Naturally, I got fried, because my Eastern European ancestry really likes to screw with me that way.

That night, it was back out to Bourbon and Harrah's, where Carly made her own "to-do" list for the evening, which may or may not have included kissing a horse.  At breakfast the next morning, I look over, and who do I see but Andrew McCarthy of "Weekend at Bernie's" fame.  Carly, who makes friends everywhere she goes (literally.  It's a gift.), asked him to take a picture with her, "diva pose" style.

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend, filled with delicious food, great company, and new (super, super drunk) friends.  This anal-retentive Virgo is ready to admit that sometimes, spontaneity can be okay.
