The Little Things We Do Together
It's the little things you do together,
Do together,
Do together,
That make perfect relationships!
Sondheim wrote a song for the musical Company called “The Little Things” which is basically a snarky take on what goes into a partnership or marriage. (It’s quite clever if you’d like to take a listen, though!)
Regardless of snark, I do believe it is, indeed, the little things that make relationships tick. For example, one of the couples I know participates in a nightly ritual: he sets his alarm for 10:45 pm, gets up from whatever he is doing, fills a glass with water, and brings her her nightly dose of birth control.
I’ve actually had a chance to witness this “little thing”, and it’s pretty awesome. She and I will be engaged in whatever nonsense she’s DVR-ed that week, when suddenly we’ll notice that he’s no longer in the room. But two seconds later, he’s next to her like a contraceptive butler, handing her water and The Pill.
Ahhh, the little things.
What are the little things that make up your relationships (friendship, love or otherwise)?

When we're driving somehwhere together he'll reach over and rub my earlobe :)
Awww...that sounds nice!
I live for the little things.
Besides music and love, the little things make the world a better place.
Below are some of my favorite to this day:
-Hot towel from the dryer waiting for me when I get out of the bath when I'm not feeling well or on a cold winter day and he'd wrap me in it and his arms = melting bliss
-Men should never unestimate the power of head rubs or playing with hair at any time!
-Smooches my cheek when he thinks I'm sleeping or any other time "just because"
-Cooking together - sounds lame, but to me that is initimate, putting extra care into what goes into one anothers bodies.
- And of course those comfortable silences that speak volumes.
