Misrepresentation on the Internetz (with a "z")
hereHere's the question for the day: who misrepresents themselves more on the internetz, men or women?
I say, hands down, MEN. Sure, girls will show their best side and maybe say they have a "J-Lo booty" (which, of course, just means they have a huge ass) but men will fib on just about anything. I've been out with super short guys who insisted they were at least 5'8", bulky men who described themselves as athletic, and boring nerds who cried, "I'm interesting, I'm a scientist!" on their profiles.
I think girls at least know their own "angles"...we know, ok, here's how to pose in front of the web-cam (and my boyfriend claims this is a REALLY obvious ploy), but men will wear hats to cover baldness, mention old high school football victories to assert their physical fitness, and conveniently forget to mention their divorces, children and restraining orders.
But I digress. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh...
What do you think? Who misrepresents themselves more on-line, men or women?

Ugh, men. I've done online dating... I've had a man use a picture that was 30 years younger then he currently was. Certainly I've had the men that are 30 lbs heavier then their pictures. Oh yeah, all men with hats are bald. The worst is half the men on Match.com on Cape Cod are married!
My pictures are current. My height and weight exact. Ok I've shaved a few years off my age (don't ask me why but I passed a big milestone birthday and I'm still trying to deal with it!).
So I vote for men are the biggest fibbers online.

I am an online dater. I do check out women's profiles cos they are the competition.
Some so lie. Yes, you're right MEN are the worst.
I recently met a man online, and his picture didnt sit right with me. When we finally got to chatting I asked him to post a pic without sunglasses. He did, and PROMPTLY mentioned he doesnt look anything like the picture on his profile....now.
Really? ha!
I actually had to call him out on it, cos the picture he used was an old picture of someone I know personally, he grabbed it off a groupie fan site. lol and that pic is oh about 12 years old!!!! my friend doesnt even look like that anymore lol .
I'm going to steal your idea and blog about the lies men and women tell online dating sites.
Cos I could seriously get carried away on this topic.
hahahaha, I've never thought about this before! I think women are better at enhancing/embellishing the truth to their advantage without it being completely blatant.
Just because someone's a scientist doesn't make them boring!! Actually it's one of my pet peeves - people are so disparaging of science and maths, btu if someone claims that they don't read, everyone recoils in shock.
Sorry, didn't mean to rant. I don't have any dating website experience, but my friends who have tried it say that men DEFINITELY lie about their height! And that women choose more flattering photos (and why not?!?).
Augh! Claire! Sorry to offend! I was actually speaking from personal experience and should have clarified. I was talking to a guy online who was a scientist, and we had GREAT conversations through e-mail, but when we met in person, turns out e-mail was the only way he was interesting. And, while alanine can be a great conversation starter, I enjoy also learning about other things on a first date.
I actually really like nerds, as I sort of am one myself. Sorry for the confusion! :)
