30 before 30: #19 Go Someplace I've Never Been
Monday, July 20, 2009 at 8:00AM Last week, I visited TWO EXTREMELY EXCITING PLACES for the first time!!! Who wet their pants in anticipation of my announcement of where these exciting places may be? Who? Who??
That's right, I visited both Charlotte, North Carolina AND Valdosta, Georgia. I took a solo road trip to visit my good friends, Chad and Emily and their beautiful children in North Carolina, then headed down to Georgia to see my friend Marc in his first regional (read: professional, paid) theatre gig. Seeing Chad and Em is always great...they are the type of people that you can reconnect with anytime, whether it's been a few days, or a few years. They are wonderful listeners and conversationalists, and I'm so happy to have been able to sit and talk with them after much too long a break.
For Marc, I was able to pull off a surprise, and went down to Valdosta just hoping that he'd be happy to see an old friend from Ohio. (He was.) I booked one of the nicest hotels in town, and in between three performances of three different shows (Big River, Once on this Island, and The Producers) we lounged and laughed and partied with some super cool people. Marc has an incredible gift, and it was so cool to be able to be a part of this very important first step in his career.
As with all vacations, this one was not quite long enough. Le Sigh.
How was your week?

Um, DUDE! I live like an hour from Charlotte! I thought this state felt somehow more sassy and cool this past week. Now I know why.
Celebrated 28th bday and defending my thesis ... not too boring. Next weekend I'll be relocating to Canada, eh!
Watched the Adam Woodall Band twice this weekend. Hate the best sushi on the plant. Slept til noon on sunday.
Blissful weekend.
Stictch... Where in Canada are you moving too?
Hi Samiantha:
I'm going to ON (London). Are you Canadian? If so, where are you?

My BF lives up in ON. I'm moving there for him, a cool job (I'm a scientist) and the health care system. I can't wait to visit BC. My BF says it's awesome.
