Hi, I'm Sarah. This is my blog...
...and here's a little bit about why I write it (for a video synopsis, scroll to the bottom of the page).
In 2008, after blogging for a number of years and never really feeling like I found my stride, I deleted everything I'd ever written and decided to start fresh.
I wanted a way to be honest, to "soul puke" without self-editing, and a way to figure out what my true writing voice was.
This decision came on the heels of divorcing young, "losing my religion" and realizing that I'd rarely made any true, creative decisions for myself.
I often tell people that time was like when the boy Eustace turns into a dragon in the book, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."
Eustace the dragon can't get out of the dragon skin himself, and needs Aslan to rake his giant, powerful claws down the scales of his back. The process is painful, excruciating at times, but the pain is purifying and finally Eustace emerges new and whole and his true self again.
All biblical allegory aside, that was me when I started this blog. Well, except for the being a boy part and actually being inside of a dragon and then being let out by a Jesus lion.
Huh. Maybe I don't really understand allegory after all.
Ahem, well...
Through writing here, I've had the chance to be featured on Smitten, Glamour magazine's relationships blog, take a road trip with other bloggers, teach an e-course with friends I've never met, and speak in various venues about blogging, personal branding, and social platforms.
When I'm not writing...
...I enjoy a good beer (for warmer weather, it's a Bell's Oberon), a riveting book, and a rousing conversation. I relish the simple things in life, such as coffee, warm socks, and soft toilet tissue.
Here's more...I've been seen on the stage and elsewhere (I was once cast in a reality TV show that featured, oddly, Joe Piscopo), performing improv, stand-up, and other such nonsense, and I love nothing so much as hearing an audience laugh (preferably "with" and not "at").
Oh yeah, I also have two very quirky dogs (who are not, I say, NOT projecting their owner's personality. A-hem) and I live and play in Columbus, OH, which is quite possibly one of the coolest cities on the planet. Really.
Thanks for visiting. You're my favorite.
Just for S's and G's, here's an interview I completed about a year ago that talks more about who I am and what I do here. Enjoy! :)
